❤️ Food Allergies and Intimacy💋: A Podcast With Food Allergy Psychologist, Amanda DeSio Whitehouse, PhD

I was delighted to be asked to join Dr Whitehouse on her podcast a few weeks back to talk about one of my favorite least-discussed topics: intimacy and food allergy risk. After Dr. Scott Sicherer broke down the real FA risks in part 1, have a listen to part 2 where we discuss the "how" to have these conversations, how I have had these conversations, how the FA talk relates to consent.

After last week's discussion with
Dr. Scott Sicherer Mount Sinai, Jaffe Food Allergy Institute about food allergy safety in relationships, Sloane Miller, MFA, MSW, LMSW, ACC and I realized there was so much more to discuss about the social/emotional aspect of the topic. We sat back down to talk about the emotional impact and practical side of navigating these topics. The conversation led us to an exploration of how we develop trust in ourselves and others, and how to nurture that in our children from an early age. Consent and boundaries are a primary theme, along with early empowerment.
